Benefits of Honey: 6 Best Health Benefits of Honey

Health Benefits of honey, Benefits of Honey, Uses of Honey

Benefits of Honey: Honey is one of the sweetest things in nature. Its lusciously exquisite flavor can be enjoyed in countless ways. But honey is more than just a tasty treat. Honey has been used for thousands of years for its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties way before antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs were around.

Today, honey is being rediscovered by modern medicine for its therapeutic properties. And there are hundreds of different kinds! So if you thought the only difference was the way they are packaged, you’re wrong. Honey’s color and flavor are determined by what flowers the bees feed on, its sugar content, and its quantity and diversity of micronutrients. Some types are even classified as “medicinal grade” because they contain so many specific compounds. But, is honey truly the all-natural miraculous cure-all that some claim it to be? And what happens to your body if you consume it daily? Let’s find out!

Number 1: – You’ll Get Lots of Antioxidants. Honey is high in antioxidants including phytochemicals, flavonoids, and ascorbic acid. Experts believe this is one of the key components that give honey its health advantages. Antioxidants combat free radicals, which are introduced into the body by certain lifestyle factors such as smoking, drinking, exposure to pollution, and the consumption of unhealthy foods. Free radicals can induce oxidative stress in the body, which may lead to diabetes, Alzheimer’s, cataracts, cancer, and premature aging. Antioxidant-rich diets lower the risk of several chronic illnesses, so including honey can be highly beneficial.

Number 2: – Your Digestive Health Will Improve. Thanks to its antibacterial properties, honey has been found to destroy bacteria ranging from E. coli to salmonella. In addition, certain types of honey have also been shown to combat H.-pylori, a bacterium present in the stomach that causes peptic ulcers. Honey is also a prebiotic food, meaning it feeds the beneficial bacteria in the gut. And, it does not ferment in the digestive system; unlike refined sugars, which can irritate the digestive tract. Furthermore, honey has an alkaline-forming effect, which can combat inflammation in the gut and digestive system.

Number 3: – Your Cold Symptoms Will Reduce Using honey to alleviate cold symptoms can be just as effective as taking an over-the-counter medication. That said, honey is not a cure for a cough, but it can certainly help lessen its severity. It’s unknown how exactly honey accomplishes this, but one theory is that it reduces airway inflammation. It may also help to relax the nerves that cause coughing. Honey also has demulcent properties, which means it soothes the mucus membranes that line the mouth, throat, and lungs.

Number 4: – Your Cognitive Functioning Will Improve. Honey consumption early in life has been shown to assist in the growth and development of the central nervous system resulting in enhanced memory, increased intellectual capacities, and less anxiety later in life. Honey may also be able to protect brain cells from damage caused by insufficient blood flow. And because of its anti-inflammatory effects, it may also be helpful in the prevention of neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s. What’s more, honey also has a particularly noticeable effect on the cells of the hippocampus—a region of the human brain involved in memory cells formation; while the flavonoids found in honey help protect the brain and boost cognitive performance. Honey also triggers dopamine, a neurotransmitter, to be released, boosting mood and mental functioning.

Number 5: – Your Cancer Risk May Drop According to some studies, honey may have significant cancer-fighting qualities. This sweet treat has been shown to protect against cancer in several ways. To begin with, it causes apoptosis, a process by which diseased or damaged cells self-destruct before causing widespread harm. Honey also appears to protect DNA in cells against mutation, lowering the risk of a cancer-causing mutation. It may also inhibit the spread of cancer cells.

Number 6: – Your Blood Sugar Will Spike and You May Gain Weight While honey does have many health benefits, it is high in sugar. one tablespoon contains 17 grams of sugar and64 calories. Honey is comprised mainly of fructose and glucose, which are quickly turned into energy by the body. Although honey is commonly regarded as healthier and less processed than other sweeteners like refined sugar or high-fructose corn syrup, it is still sweet and calorie-dense. So, keep that in mind if you’re watching your weight or have diabetes.

There you have it. Now you know what can happen to your body when you eat honey daily. And while there aren’t any studies to back it up just yet, most honey advocates refer to raw honey when promoting its health advantages. That’s because pasteurization is believed to destroy some of honey’s beneficial components. Also, honey should be consumed mindfully and cautiously. Excessive use of it, like any food, has repercussions, especially in a culture that already abuses sugar consumption. A healthy individual with no weight issues or sugar addiction should eat no more than1 small spoon or around 10-12 grams per day. Thanks for reading !!
